Brief History of Computer Mouse

It was about forty-five years ago when the first computer mouse was made. At that time, the device was called Bug. Bill English and Douglas Engelbart developed it in a computer lab at Stanford. Since then, the handheld device is connected to the computers almost all the time. You may not have much thought of its use before you read this article.

Now that we have mentioned the origin of the mouse, surely we will talk about its evolution. In the year of 1981, the developer brought out the Xerox 8010 Information system. This time, it featured a mouse as one of the first commercial computing systems to come into the market. However, the price of $16,595 was too high. It caused some limitation for its popularity. After then, the Lisa was introduced by Apple in 1983. It was also quite costly for people.

Things started to alter when MacIntosh was brought out in the following year. This helped to make home computers much more accessible and prevalent. The contraption of the Apple mouse was squarish over that time. Before the Apple USB mouse came out in 1998, the squarish one had been used for so long a time. The appearance of the item looked like a hockey puck. It didn’t provide hand comfort though it was eye-catching.

Microsoft and Logitech are also manufacturers of computer accessories. Their computer mouse is innovative. The latter invented a wireless mouse which is also called cordless Mouseman. There is no need using a line to connect it to computer. Scroll wheel with the mouse was developed in 1995 by a company called Mouse Systems. Finally, it turned to be a standard among all computer mice.
